About Our Theatre
The Mission of GLT
The mission of Granville Little Theatre, Inc., is to foster, grow and provide opportunities for the performance of live theatre. We encompass all aspects of the theatre arts - both on and off stage. We further follow this mission by providing these cultural opportunities for as many people as possible, regardless of race, gender, age, religious belief or national origin.
The History Behind the Granville Little Theatre, Inc.
Theatre has been a part of Granville County for 80+ years with notations about locally produced plays in newspaper archives from the 1930's. Granville Little Theatre, a completely volunteer community theatre, also known as GLT, was organized officially through the efforts of the Granville Arts Council in the spring of 1978. In our first year as an incorporated entity, 1979, four full-length plays were produced:
- The Odd Couple
- Murder in the Cathedral, Part II
- Something Afoot
- Eat Your Hearts Out
Granville Little Theatre, Inc. continues to grow, working with many fine directors, performers, and volunteers, in bringing theatre to our community.
We hope to see you here often!
Opportunities to Volunteer:
We are a volunteer run organization - everyone involved with GLT: the Board of Directors, light crew, actors, costumers, producers, musicians, stage techs, playbill designers, set builders, choreographers, sound techs, and even the curtain pullers - donate their time. Come join us if you would like to donate your skills to us or to learn new ones!
If you can help in any way, please let us know at granvillelittletheatre@gmail.com!
